I have had so many people asking me about the diet that my Dr. has me on so I figure I will give everyone a quick update.
In case you missed it I am on the Paleo or Leptin Diet.
I was put on this diet for health concerns and to achieve over all health.
There are so many recipes out there for this.. just google it (I google everything haha)
First weekend I lost 6 lbs and felt a huge difference regarding my energy and just how my body felt. I think in the last post I wrote about how I am very aware of my body. Anyway...
As of today (2.5 weeks after starting) I am down 16 lbs. I know that doesn't seem healthy but I eat... a lot! I have even treated myself to a lot of dark chocolate and chilis chips and salsa (ssshhh don't tell). I honestly just think my body had so many toxins stored up that it is just working like crazy to get rid of all of it.
Now... I know a lot of people ask me if this has been an easy adjustment and I will tell you that for the most part it has. The first few days I did great! I felt great and didn't really have cravings... well going into the first week and a half and this week it has been harder. I knew this challenge would come but I have such a sweet tooth so for me it is inevitable haha! There have been days (like today) where I have felt weak and maybe I just didn't get enough calories or something but really I think what it has to do with is my body is still making huge adjustments! Days like today I tend to eat more dark chocolate and I tend to want to eat carbs. I know these feelings and cravings will go away after a couple more weeks... So if you do decide to try it... STAY STRONG! YOU WILL SEE RESULTS AND FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!
Other noticeable changes:
I feel happier as a human. I have always been happy but lately I don't seem to get as stressed and if something is bothering me it takes a lot for my patience to wear.
My hair seems thicker and growing fast! (like it could get any thicker... right??)
My skin isn't nearly as dry as it has been and my lips have started producing natural moisture... I don't use nearly as much chapstick.
I don't seem to sweat as much. TMI right? well I am a sweaty gal and lately this problem has been reduced... SIGNIFICANTLY :)
I am sure there have been many more changes but my mind is off tonight.
If you have any questions let me know... I am happy to help answer any!!

help me... if you dare :)
I am looking for some women who want to share their opinion
regarding their bodies, clothing, color and confidence.
If you could either leave a comment answering the following
or shoot me an email haylielynphoto@hotmail.com
I would appreciate it!
1 – Where do you struggle regarding clothing: confidence,
color choice, layering, shopping or just suck at picking an outfit out period!?
2 – Are you afraid to mix colors or are you afraid to branch
out into the color world?
3 – Would you ever consider having a consultant help you
with wardrobe styling based on your body type and skin tones?
4 – Do you know your body type? Are you in denial?
5 – Would you hate someone for giving their honest opinion?
6 – What do you expect to get out of your clothing
choices?
7 – Do you like lose or fitted clothing?
8 – Do you lack confidence all around?
9 – Do you like accessories?
Do you know how to wear accessories based on your body type?
10 - Are you reserved? Or willing to branch out and try new styles
and layering techniques?
HAHA! Thanks for all of your input! I am super excited to see what your responses
are!

a new day...
I try not to blog about too many of my problems... where's the fun in that right??
This time its different... a little bad but nothing terrible... MOSTLY GREAT tho!
So since I had my girls I haven't quite felt like myself... It's hard to explain exactly how I have been feeling but I just knew something was off. I am very aware of my body.
Here is what life has been like...
tired a lot, brittle hair, anxiety, restless nights, sometimes my heart would hurt, I couldn't lose weight no matter what I tried, and several other little things. Everyone would just tell me its because I'm a mom, I try to do too much, I have twins, and my age... No it was more than that. I could tell something needed to change. So after months and months of trying to become healthy and failing I decided to see a Dr. I honestly thought my thyroid was out of wack or something. Reading online (which isn't always the best :) I had all the symptoms for hypothyroidism. I am not one that likes to just go to the Dr. So keep that in mind. I appreciate modern day medicine for a lot of things, but I often feel like too many Dr's just push prescriptions instead of finding a solution.
Well at my initial appointment we went over how I have been feeling. How discouraged I was getting. He decided to draw some blood and run several tests.
I went back this last Friday to go over my results.
Thyroid fine... Great news!
Vitamin D low (like most Utahns), bad cholesterol high, good cholesterol low, and sugars way too high... my pancreas was working way too hard.
So he decided to put me on a pretty strict diet. I wanted to scream!! Really a diet?!?
But after he started explaining everything to me it made sense! Holy shmokes!!
I needed to reset my fat thermostat! Catchy right?!?
So I started his plan Friday... 3 days ago at lunch time. Since then I have lost over 6 lbs and I am starting to feel better than ever!! I have more energy! I feel happier!! I can already feel my body getting rid of all the toxins. My heart doesn't beat like its going to explode... my anxiety has come down... It really is working!! For me it's not just about losing weight... it's about feeling and being healthier. BUT hey if you want to lose a few extra lbs this will work for you :)
It's amazing how food affects everything in our bodies. It can throw all of our hormones off which will throw everything else off. Even if one thing is off the slightest bit it will affect us.
So you are probably wondering what the secret is... And I will share! Keep in mind that everyone's body is different and our needs are different as well.
A lot of what I am eating follows the Paleo Diet. I had never heard of this until Friday. BUT my Dr did change a few things for me because of my needs. Honestly before starting a diet you really should consult with your Dr. Anyway... you can look up Paleo diet. If you need help I will gladly sit down with you and go over all of it or you can call my Dr. and he will do the same for you. One of the things that I was impressed with is that he didn't just try to prescribe things to "fix" me... he really sat down and evaluated my body's needs. Oh and the whole grain thing... well for me right now I'm not eating any. I go back in 3 months and we will evaluate everything again. Eventually I will be able to bring grains back into my life... but I will not overdue it
Oh and something interesting is that my whole egg incident a month ago was most likely because of grains. So he challenged me to eat eggs again. I think it will be a while before I do that... I am scared to get that pain again. BUT when I do it will be interesting to see what happens.
Here is what I eat.
A LOT of meat and veggies. Low sugars so only 1 or 2 pieces of fruit each day. NO Grains, NO sweets. Well I have been treating myself to dark chocolate at the end of each day to kind of reward myself. Plus dark chocolate is safe to eat! :)
There are some simple things to do as well. Like taking 10 deep breaths every hour and a few others.
It's all about our bodies being too stressed because of what we eat and our every day stresses contributing.
If you want more specific details let me know. I don't really have the time to blog about every little thing...
BUT it really is a new day!

snow day... well sort of
Larkyn and I decided to go shovel some walks today... (do I totally sound like a Utahn?? haha!)
It turned into a mini session of her! AND she loved every minute of the picture taking!! It's been a while since I took and edited some pictures of my own child... it was sooo fun! I think I'll do this more often :)
So a little bit about Larkyn...
She loves water! To play in it that is!! Anytime she sees a puddle she has to jump in it to make a splash. Well today was perfect for that since the snow was so wet and is melting super fast!
Enjoy!!

Vacation anyone??
I have some high hopes of going on a vacation this year! I could really use one now :) I am not ready for winter and I don't think I will ever be. Logan and I were talking about trying to go to Hawaii sometime in the next year (ish) and right now that is what is on my mind!! I keep looking at beach houses, beach colors... really anything to do with the beach: sand, water, snorkeling, surf, sand castles... its on my mind.
So I decided to put together an outfit for my current dream.
I don't know what it is about blue accessories... I honestly love blue. Blue Blue Blue. All shades... its such a fun and relaxing color.
Oh and in case you haven't heard... gold is in! Not only gold, but mixing metals. So we can mix patterns and metals now... wahoo!! :)

6 months and potty time...
Yep its official... she is potty trained!
There were a lot of blood, sweat and tears that went into this so it made the cut for blogging :)
I never thought this day would come... I think most of our family felt the same way because of how strong willed Larkyn is and how she absolutely refused to go on the potty. The Monday after Thanksgiving... I was determined! It is so ridiculous how expensive diapers are especially when 3 kids are in them! Sheesh!!
My mom suggested bribery... Some parents are probably against this... BUT for me it worked!! I headed to the dollar store and picked out tons of little toys that I new she would love and then I went and got the ultimate prize for her... The Rapunzel Barbie doll... she has been dreaming of having her own since she spotted it at a friends birthday party this last summer. Monday morning I sat her down and I showed her all of her prizes and I told her that every time she went on the potty she got a prize, BUT (now this is key people) if she had any accidents she got all of her prizes taken away and put back on the shelf for an entire day! You better believe she caught on quick!! The first day was great and she got most of her prizes, but day 2 was harder and there was an accident so you better believe I took them away. Day 3 came and it was perfect except 1 thing... she hadn't done the "number 2" on the potty yet. This was the big one and I new it would be a challenge so we were holding Rapunzel hostage until this big event happened. Well on that glorious day 3 it did happen! Hooray!! She has had a few accidents and yes I am still taking her prizes away when she does. She is learning fast! She will even go and get her prizes if she has an accident and tell me to put them on the shelf. LOL. Thankfully this has only happened a few times.
I can't believe how big my little girl seems now. She is growing up so fast. We are considering putting her in dance maybe mid January so she is looking forward to that!!
My twins are 6 months old! Now that is crazy!! It feels like these 2 came into our lives yesterday... and to think its been a year since we found out we were having twins. I will never forget that day. I was so overwhelmed with the thought of having twins... I was emotional, stressed, nervous, excited, scared... you name it and I felt it! That anxiety carried with me for a long time BUT now I love the adventure!! Having 2 babies really isn't that bad!! (I wish I would have listened to my neighbors tell me that I would be ok and saved myself all the worry lol) They are great babies though and maybe that makes all the difference and I promise we have had our share of bad days but I honestly couldn't imagine our lives without these 2 little girls! Larkyn adores them too! I love it when she calls them stinkers!
(sorry for the poor images... these were taken on Logan's phone)
Oaklee & Carea (Cuh-ray-uh it is not pronounced like Korea) couln't be more opposite! They even look sooo different!
Above in the picture of them together Carea is on the left and Oaklee is on the right.
We have really tall and chunky kids! I love it!!
Oaklee (baby A) - She is so funny! She already army crawls everywhere! She is always on her tummy and on the move... I swear she can't hold still for 2 seconds. Even when she sleeps she is constantly moving. She has rolls upon rolls. I should take a close up picture of her legs... I am pretty sure they even have some cellulite on them! Her face is narrower and long, she has slightly smaller eyes (like her daddy), she has a bigger mouth and bigger ears.
Her 6 month stats are: 27 inches, 16 lbs 7 oz, and her head is 43.75 cm.
Carea (baby B) - She is always making weird sounds... almost like she belongs in Star Trek or something! She doesn't like her tummy so she doesn't really get around. I honestly think because of her hemangioma on her head she is uncomfortable on her tummy. I think she bumped it a few times or something. Anyway... so she spends a lot of time in a bumbo or jumper. She is chunky.. but its definitely more solid than Oaklee! Not a lot of rolls, she is just thick haha! Her face is rounder (like mine), she has bigger eyes and she has a smaller mouth!
Her 6 month stats are: 26.75 inches, 16 lbs 12 oz, and her head is 43.5 cm.
Both girls have gained over 11 lbs since they were born and have grown 10 inches! I never thought my premie girls would have grown this fast! They laugh at everything and they both love to watch Larkyn.
I love all of my girls! Life is great!!
